Credit Reporting Required

If you do not have accurate information in your file about your employment, mortgage payments, credit score and other matters that may limit your personal access to your free information then you may want to ask a financial institution or a credit reporting agency that has responsibility for your account. For information about credit reporting agencies that may be able to help you by going through your file and determining what information in it you need, and what information may be helpful in your investigation of your debt or debtors obligations to help you get credit or repayment options that are within your specific budget or budgeting guidelines.

The best way you can help with debt consolidation is you may want to contact the account servicing agencies that you own or work with and find out what information in your file is most helpful and appropriate for you. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued warnings about information in your credit report, so contacting each of the leading reporting agency(s) and getting those reports out to the major credit reporting agencies of your choice will usually give you the information and options you need.

You should compare each of the three major reporting agencies you know to be the best in their services or they may just not be the right fit for you.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the major credit reporting agencies to provide information in your file about the amount you owe, how much you owe, your regular monthly payments and how long you’ve been unemployed. This information is used to investigate the eligibility of you for an award of credit. If you use all of this information and find that there’s not enough available to prove your knowledge of the report, you may want to withhold it until the FCRA’s changed.

Each of the biggest credit reporting agencies must give you one free copy of your file a year from now. That’s three free e-mails a month, a single free copy of your credit report and your statement to the FTC. That means you can look through all twelve or fifteen copies you see left in your file at once. At the end of the free period, you’ll have all the free information you need to know about your situation.
